The question is rarely whether wallpaper looks good. The question is whether it is the only way to cover a wall.
What makes wallpapering such a job?
Four things, in practice:
- Paste. Mixing it, applying it, and the mess that comes with it.
- Lining up. Lengths that have to butt together, patterns that have to run on. One length off true and you see it all the way up the wall.
- The surface. Wallpaper wants a flat wall. Textured paint or an uneven surface makes it harder.
- It is permanent. Getting it off again is work, and some of the wall usually comes with it.
So how does IXXI work?
An IXXI is not a sheet but a set of loose cards you click together with X-connectors. That changes all four of those things.
No paste — it hangs on wall clips and power strips. No lining up — the cards are made to measure for your design and only click together one way. And it is not permanent: you unclip it.

Does it work on a wall that is not flat?
This is the difference people least expect. Wallpaper is pasted against the wall, so the wall has to be flat. An IXXI hangs from clips at a few points and does not lie against the whole surface.
And in a damp room?
The cards are printed on a premium synthetic material that is tear-proof and moisture resistant. That is why this also works in a bathroom or a kitchen, where paper buckles.
Can it cover a whole wall?
Yes, and that is not a special version. With wallpaper you are tied to the width of the roll; with loose cards the format grows with the number of cards. The wall is the limit.
For an image at that size, start in the wall art collection. Or use your own image as a photo collage — the equivalent of photo wallpaper, without the lengths.
And when you want something else in three years?
Then you swap the cards and leave the wall clips where they are. That is where wallpaper and an IXXI differ most: wallpaper is a decision for years, this is not.

Why adaptable wall art
You click light, tear-proof cards together with X-connectors and hang them without drilling. You decide the size and the design yourself. When the room changes you swap the image rather than the whole wall — which is exactly what wallpaper will not let you do.
